The chairmen of sessions 1 to 4 presented summaries of their sessions and generally identified areas of agreement as well as areas requiring further work.

Additional comments were provided by Dr. Frescura, OECD-NEA, on international regulatory concerns about severe accidents and by Dr. Asmolov, Kurchatov Institute, Moscow, on developments in Russia on severe accidents. Dr. Speis then identified those areas in which he believed a common technical consensus had been achieved and those areas in which further work was required.

A lively discussion from the floor then ensued.
