SUGGESTIONS FOR PREPARING and PRESENTING POSTERS

GENERAL

The poster boards, to be supplied by the hotel, will be 85 cm wide by 110 cm high.

Posters should be attached using thumb tacks (drawing pins) or Velcro tape, which will be supplied.

The lettering should be large enough to be read by someone standing 2 m back from the poster.

It is recommended that posters be prepared on large (A2 or A3) sheets, or even full size (A0), and not on A4 or quarto sheets taped together, the result of which looks amateurish.

TEXT SIZES

Title: 2 cm

Authors' names and affiliations: 1½ cm

Section headings (ABSTRACT, INTRODUCTION, etc.): 1-1½ cm

The text itself should be of the order of 5-10 mm high.

For clarity, use lots of diagrams, lots of colour, and not many words.

Use phrases and short sentences in "bullet points"

CONTEXT

It is recommended that the poster be divided into sections: a one or two sentence abstract; problem definition and/or aims; method; results; conclusions.

The rules for the preparation of good slides apply equally to the preparation of good posters:
