SCOPE

Identify, analyze and modify the control and regulation mechanisms of transport phenomena in biological system, with particular emphasis on the cardiac system, so as to catalyze improved therapeutic modalities for mal-functioning systems. The following elements will be studied and discussed in detail:

• Signaling mechanisms and transport phenomena

• Blood-tissue exchange and inter-tissue transport

• Ions &  metabolites  cellular membrane transport and endocytosis

• Intra-cellular transport, energetics and molecular motors

• System biology, uni- and multi-scale transport models & hierarchical analysis

• Clinical aspects: Cardiac protection, metabolic and pharmaceutical augmentation and interferences
